Volunteers
Volunteer opportunities at KECT include crewing on a
staff production, helping with office work, and crewing for
an access show. All Volunteer opportunities are negotiated
on a case by case basis. You may qualify for credit to help
offset your cost of producing or renting equipment.
How to Get Involved
Production volunteers on
staff and access shows need to complete the
studio production workshop.
For volunteers with prior television production experience,
we offer reorientations in which the Training Coordinator
explains and demonstrates KECT's equipment and procedures.
The cost of the re-orientation is $30 per hour, and it
usually takes about 1-2 hours. At the discretion of the
Training Coordinator, completion of the reorientation is
equal to that of the 5-week studio production course.
What About
Internships?
KECT welcomes interns.
Students have been pleased with the variety of experience
and duties they get while interning at KECT . Since we are a
small station with limited staff we rely on interns to help
fill the production gaps. These include editing, on-camera
reporting, news writing, web production, marketing, ENG
(Remote Camcorder coverage), and computer graphics work. If
you are a student, or if you just want to learn about
television and have some previous experience, review the
KECT Internships that are available to you.

Internship Duration &
Commitment
We offer internships three
different times a year. Fall - September
through December, Spring - February through
April/May, and Summer - June through
August. Dates are flexible and will be considered on a case
by case basis. During the school-year, we ask for a minimum
commitment of 120 hours, which breaks down to 10 hours/ week
